When unassuming mailroom worker Kate Little agrees to become an underwear tester for a marketing company, things get uncomfortable fast. Kate is a heroine with pretty intense body image issues as well as a job that allows her to hide. From the moment I met her I could relate to her. The story is told in first person POV and it was consistent. I liked her internal dialogues; they did a pretty good job of letting me get to know Kate better. I liked her sense of humor and her ability to bounce back from adversity. I really appreciated the author adding in a character like Kate's friend Darren. Everyone needs a person who can set you straight when you are so full of yourself you can't see the forest for the trees and Darren was that for Kate. I liked her ability to bond with Kipling and how the author always was mindful of keeping that a constant realistic concern.
Bryan was a wonderful balance of confident career man and vulnerable guy in love. He was strong yet wasn't so arrogant or full of himself that he couldn't or wouldn't allow for feelings to show. He's as dupable as the next guy because he is a real person. He didn't have a sixth sense that something nefarious and sneaky was stalking him. He's as normal as any man I'd meet in an office, but better looking. He sees something in Kate that no one else has seen and he's determined to bring that jewel to the surface no matter how insecure she acts - he knows she can be more than she's allowing herself to be. He's not perfect and he flubs it a few times and that made me like him all the more. He also has hidden talents that totally upped the sweet factor in the romance.
The technique of using online chats as dialogue was creative and fun. I enjoyed how the author presented it and again, it gave a feeling of authenticity to the tale.
The villain is something of head scratch for me. First, the author did a great job of convincing me that this person is to be disliked, abhorred and even pitied. ONe thing had me shaking my head, though. No way could I believe that the actions taken by the villain would have been dealt with the way they were in this book. I believe that the author depicted a crime of defamation of character or slander or libel. I was so incensed I had to look it up on the internet. I would have come down hard on that character and immediately given a more harsh punishment than what was written. I guess it's a personal opinion but I really felt that more should have been done to the villain and it made me really angry on behalf of both Bryan and Kate. I'm still steaming. I want to pull a Queen of Hearts and yell, "Off with their head!!"
Wedgie Tales and Panty Lines ended up being a wonderful romance between two people, that once together, bring out the best in each other. They both grow as characters though Kate accomplishes the most. There is humor, a bit of sadness but much optimism throughout the book. There was a wonderful buildup of sensual tension until they finally come together. Their first time is pretty funny and I loved Kate's comment about it. Because romance books usually follow a certain pattern, this tale tickled my funny bone because it bucked the expected outcome. When things finally go according to plan, it's not even in a typical place. The author had me laughing at what should have been a serious passionate moment. Stern and serious doesn't seem to be this author's style. Ms. Sookoo writes about life being amusing because truly, if you look for it, funny and odd stuff abounds. I was entertained and the story and characters kept my interest. True, Kate does get even with the villain but I maintain that the law could have been called in to deal with the vindictive, manipulative and spiteful little snake. Yes I'm telling you how I really feel. For a book to get me so riled up, the writing has to be good. The author needs to get me to care for her characters and Ms. Sookoo has certainly done that. I do recommend this book for all contemporary romance readers who like humor and quirky characters. This book satisfies.

I really loved this book!! It was everything contemporary romance/chick lit should be...it made you laugh, cry, get angry, swoon...and crave that happily ever after. Can't wait for the sequel!
